Laptop Soldered BIOS repair service, It is important that you know the BIOS is faulty before using the Laptop BIOS Repair service.

There is a charge of 50% of service cost that needs to be paid before using the service which is non refundable regardless of the outcome of any repair attempt.

If we are not able to repair your Laptop then this amount covers our Expenses and return shipping in the UK. Postage elsewhere may be more expensive.

All Recovery options should have been tried before using the Laptop BIOS Repair service.

We are able to repair BIOS on Acer, Asus, Compaq, ECS, HP, Uniwill, Fujitsu, MSI, Toshiba and many other makers Laptops.

If a useable ROM or BIN file is available we can probably help. Some older Laptops often have removable EEPROM and the BIOS can be serviced quite easily. However this is not typical of all makers machines and is certainly not the case with most modern laptops.

If your laptop has a removable EEPROM then you can replace it easily. If the laptop in question has a soldered BIOS CHIP or EEPROM then the task is a little more difficult.

Laptop Heat exchanger-Fan Servicing

Laptop Heat exchanger-Fan Servicing. Laptops due to their compact design need to have a good air flow through the heat exchanger, if the heat exchanger is blocked with dust it wont be long before your machine develops more serious issues.

Fans and heat exchangers are serviced as part of the Laptop Soldered BIOS repair service.

Laptop Soldered BIOS Repair Service

To use the Laptop Soldered BIOS Repair service you need to send your Laptop or Laptop mainboard to me. If you send the entire laptop or base unit then the cost is £49.99 plus return Postage at cost.

50% of service cost is payable when you send the laptop in, and is not refundable.

The rest becomes payable if I manage to repair your machine, I will invoice you for the remaining 50% of service cost and return shipping when the repair is complete. Address for shipping the Laptop is in the contact section.

Items such as display screen, hard drive and CDROM can be removed to save weight on shipping. All recovery options or flash recovery jumpers should have been tried before using this service.

If your Laptop BIOS chip is soldered directly to the mainboard, then I would first attempt to program the part in position on the mainboard. This is not always possible and as a final measure in these cases the old chip will be removed, reprogrammed, and then finally refitted. In some cases the EEPROM is not serviceable and would be replaced.

Laptop Mainboard BIOS Repair

If you would like to send the Laptop mainboard only for Soldered BIOS Repair then costs vary depending on EEPROM type, E-Mail  your machine details to us for current prices

If the mainboard only is sent, I would not get the chance to test the Mainboard. One needs to be certain the bios is in fact the cause of any problems before using the service.

The charge for this service is non refundable regardless of outcome. Although the mainboard's may be sent back to have the soldered joints or bios code checked at customers expense.

Most laptops nowadays have soldered EEPROM, typically these could be PLCC, VSOP, TSOP or SPI Serial flash Packages.

Laptop BIOS Codes

There are cases where the manufacturer no longer supports the board and will not supply the codes necessary to complete the repair. It really depends on the individual companies policies.

Some will not help if your machine is out of warranty.

If you have your BIOS backed up and need a chip programmed just send me a copy with the BIOS chip part number and I will prepare one for you.

If you have a Phoenix BIOS and have backed up your BIOS before flashing the new BIOS, then the old BIOS may be in one of the following directories. if you saved to a custom location then you should know where the backup is.

Windows 2000 and XP

C:\Windows\temp\Phlash16 directory, or

C:\documents and settings\your user name\local settings temp\.

Vista and windows 7

C:\Windows\temp\Phlash16 directory, or

C:\User\Your desktop name\Application Data\Local\Temp\

You can clear the directory prior to running the update file to make it easier to locate any files deposited there by the flash utility.

If the rom files are not available from the maker then this file can be used to restore the machine

Hot air station used to lift one side of a TSOP part at a time, Scalpel or Tweezers or tool of choice is used only to lift the heated side of the EEPROM, when the solder melts the heat is removed. Once the solder solidifies you can then tackle the other side and pick up the EEPROM with a pair of good tweezers.

Re flow the footprint pads after applying a little flux, and then reposition the EEPROM over the pads once it has been re programmed.

Once you are happy with the alignment, hot air is then used to to re flow the EEPROM . Can be Tricky sometimes they move during the heating process and have to be re aligned.
