Asus F5R-X50R Laptop Mainboard

The Asus F5R-X50R is quite an easy laptop to strip, very straightforward.

BIOS CHIP used is the SST 39VF040 70-4C-NHE, or equivalent.

There is enough room to fit a PLCC socket on this Model, although you still have to strip the laptop completely to access the EEPROM.

Fan and Heatsink

If you have stripped your laptop to repair the BIOS or CMOS, then its a good time to service the fan and heatsink too ny giving them a thorough cleaning

BIOS Chip Location

BIOS Chip is located on the underside of the mainboard and can be seen clearly in the image below.

Lots of room around the EEPROM to work, however there are plastic parts close to the EEPROM which either have to be removed or protected if you are going to use a hot air station to remove the eeprom.
